To A/B the signal chains against each other, just press the A or B button in real time to hear that signal chain in action. Even in special cases such as the 47 which slightly changes from cardioid to hypercardioid throughout the frequency spectrum, the off axis tone isn't affected as much as the rejection at certain frequencies, so this would only be relevant if the microphone had source material coming from more than 180 degrees. If two microphones have the same polar pattern, what happens off axis is quite consistent in terms of frequency response deviation.

Modelling can‘t mimic this - itˋs complex physical capsule behaviour and one one the many reasons why schoeps cost what they cost. The farer you get from the source the more important this gets. Schoeps are my go to right now, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to replace those in the near future. Fantastic news! Is it just me, or don't you guys think it would be nice with KM84/CMC6 or similar overhead mic models? I mostly record smaller acoustic ensembles, where great overhead mics are essential.
